Do children solve problems?: practical possibilities in mathematics education for childhood

Resumo: This age of everyday life refers to the work that one of the researchers carried out, in her master's thesis, from proposals for solving problems by five children in her early childhood education class, with 17 children aged between four years. Problem solving and how the results prove to be an excellent strategy for the group as children in their knowledge hypotheses. As they solve different problems and were confronted by colleagues' ideas, they were building and consolidating the mathematical concepts. In addition, use problem-solving strategies at other times of your routine, demonstrating the importance of this type of proposal. The mathematical importance of the articulation between the mathematical proposals elaborated throughout the activities in an integrated manner is also highlighted, contributing to the development of activities in an integrated and thought-out way for the development of actions in an integrated manner.

Os resultados evidenciam que a resolução de problemas e as discussões em grupo se mostraram uma excelente estratégia para as crianças avançarem em suas hipóteses de conhecimento. À medida que resolviam as situações problemas e eram confrontadas por ideias diferentes dos colegas, iam construindo e consolidando os conceitos matemáticos. Além disso, utilizaram estratégias de resolução de problemas em outros momentos de sua rotina, demonstrando a importância deste tipo de proposta.
