“Your job is for the janitor, isn’t it?” Man's place in Childhood Education teaching: challenges and tensions

Resumo: This article presents reflections on the professional experience of men in the area of ​​early childhood education, a female space, based on two teachers who took part in this level of basic education, portraying not only the initial phase of their trajectories, but also the experiences of the course. As sources used were the result of interviews recorded with a semi-structured script that allowed an approach with the figurative theory of Norbert Elias, specifically, with the concept of power, discussed by the author, which presents the way of display and how speeches and practices, within educational institutions that assist children, marginalized and maximized are those that impact on the personal and professional lives of these teachers.
