Resumo: The experience report presented here is the record of an intervention project developed as part of the supervised internship activities of the Pedagogy course in an institution of Early Childhood Education. From observation and conversations with the teacher responsible for a group of five-year-old children, it was verified the lack of toys and materials with which children could play. The intervention project was developed to enable children to produce and play with toys made from recyclable materials. The internship activities recorded here were able to promote the encounter between the intern and his “inner child” and provide assurance that it is possible to develop a childhood pedagogy that is not focused on reproducing the school form.

A partir da observação e conversas com a professora responsável por uma turma de crianças de cinco anos de idade, verificou-se a escassez de brinquedos e materiais com os quais as crianças pudessem brincar. O projeto de intervenção foi desenvolvido para possibilitar que as crianças produzissem e brincassem com brinquedos confeccionados a partir de materiais recicláveis.
