Medicalization at childhood: discipline, control and punishment

Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the discourses produced in the records of children with disabilities who attend the Multi-Media Room of the Municipal Education Network of Florianópolis. The reading and analysis of the pedagogical documentation compiled by Multi-Media Room occurred with weekly visits to the school, as a continuous work on the material produced and stored in this space. The discourse analysis was based on Foucault's studies considering the utterances' singularities and existence conditions. Three analytical axes show medicalization in action:  Diagnosis via medical report; Report with indications of pedagogical practice to the institution and children´s conduct complaining incompatible with their age group. The results show the lack of pedagogical information regarding the children's learning process. There is a prevalence of medical discourses emphasizing the medical-clinical perspective of learning, which strengthens the development of a biological and pathologizing view, producing obstacles to the children's development as a creativity potency and in a constant transformation.

A leitura e análise da documentação pedagógica compilada pela Sala Multimeios ocorreram com idas semanais à escola realizando um trabalho contínuo em relação ao material produzido e armazenado nesse espaço. A análise do discurso teve base nos estudos de Foucault considerando as singularidades e condições de existência dos enunciados. Três eixos analíticos revelam a medicalização em ação:  Diagnóstico via laudo médico, Presença no laudo de indicações de práticas pedagógicas à instituição e queixa de condutas das crianças consideradas incompatíveis com sua faixa etária. Os resultados evidenciam a falta de informações pedagógicas em relação ao processo de aprendizagem e desenvolvimento das crianças.
