Resumo: This essay aims to picture pieces of contemporary sociological debates, concerning epistemological issues. A dichotomy between term and concept will be developed to clarify the ideas that will relate a celebrated author — Pierre Bourdieu — with two more recent names — John Law and Bruno Latour — that presented new long range theories, in which one can immerse to account a very unorthodox sociology. In the source of this dichotomy there is a modernist epistemology that will be roughly (re)elaborated before the account of the other subjects. It will be suggested that the non-observation of some epistemological details follows some critiques in the debates, as well as the debate itself, fueling the plausibility of the concerning authors’ sociological theories.

Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC2014-12-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/principia/article/view/1808-1711.2014v18n3p37110.5007/1808-1711.2014v18n3p371Principia: an international journal of epistemology; Vol. 18 No. 3 (2014); 371-391Principia: an international journal of epistemology; Vol. 18 Núm. 3 (2014); 371-391Principia: an international journal of epistemology; v. 18 n. 3 (2014); 371-3911808-17111414-4247reponame:Principia (Florianópolis.
