Resumo: | This essay aims to picture pieces of contemporary sociological debates, concerning epistemological issues. A dichotomy between term and concept will be developed to clarify the ideas that will relate a celebrated author — Pierre Bourdieu — with two more recent names — John Law and Bruno Latour — that presented new long range theories, in which one can immerse to account a very unorthodox sociology. In the source of this dichotomy there is a modernist epistemology that will be roughly (re)elaborated before the account of the other subjects. It will be suggested that the non-observation of some epistemological details follows some critiques in the debates, as well as the debate itself, fueling the plausibility of the concerning authors’ sociological theories. |

Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC2014-12-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/principia/article/view/1808-1711.2014v18n3p37110.5007/1808-1711.2014v18n3p371Principia: an international journal of epistemology; Vol. 18 No. 3 (2014); 371-391Principia: an international journal of epistemology; Vol. 18 Núm. 3 (2014); 371-391Principia: an international journal of epistemology; v. 18 n. 3 (2014); 371-3911808-17111414-4247reponame:Principia (Florianópolis.
