Resumo: | This article analyzes, based on data from field observations and interviews, the development and role of the Solidarity Kitchens sponsored by the Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST) between 2021 and 2022, a period marked by the return of Brazil to the Hunger Map and by the process of expanding the share of workers living in poverty. From the Solidarity Kitchen in Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro, the development of Solidarity Kitchens in Brazil is analyzed concerning the upheaval process of the public sphere, guided by the reforms in the programs and social policies of the first decade of the 2000s and aggravated by the process of erosion democratic open from the years 2015 and 2016. From the characterization of the Solidarity Kitchens project and its development, we approach ways in which the theme of "hunger" took the public scenario differently from what happened at the beginning in the 2000s and the 1990s, bringing cohesion and reorganization to popular mobilizations. The Solidarity Kitchens, as a project from a social movement, intends to question the ways of combating hunger and poverty that do not alter the organization of social relations through mobilization actions popular guided by social solidarity to rebuild the public sphere as a space for making politics, stimulating inflections for the development of social policies of Food and Nutritional Security and Food Sovereignty. |
