Resumo: In this paper we proceed from an initial research regarding fact-checking in the two most accessed news portals in Brazil and Portugal, which have specific pages for checking content, named, respectively, Fato ou Fake and Polígrafo. The study covers the first ninety days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a coronavirus pandemic status. Through the Content Analysis in a qualitative and quantitative way it was possible to perceive the particularities in the work carried out by similar vehicles, located in two Portuguese-speaking countries, but with different situations regarding the confrontation of COVID-19 - especially regarding the political-ideological influence.
