Resumo: This article aims to analyze the use of smartphones in the journalist’s work routine and in the process of television news. The focus is to identify in which situations and frequencies the device is employed. The study is based on a bibliographical research, in addition to a 12-day monitoring of Jornal Nacional, from Rede Globo, which allowed the identification of four categories that illustrate the use of smartphones. Changes were noted in the television production generated by the use of the smartphone as a work tool, which guarantees more agility to journalists and as a device that allows new language opportunities.

O objetivo é compreender em quais situações e frequências o dispositivo é empregado. Foi feita uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre o tema, além do monitoramento de 12 edições do Jornal Nacional, da Rede Globo, o que permitiu identificar quatro categorias que ilustram o uso do smartphone no telejornal.
