Resumo: 3D printing is a technology that can make structures more sustainable and personalized, as it reduces construction waste and enables the use of diverse materials in its composition, as well as providing opportunities for the elaboration of more creative projects. For this, this article aims to investigate the widespread adoption and success of 3D printing technology on a global scale, in parallel with the strategic incorporation of natural materials in this context. By carrying out an exploratory search in open and online scientific articles, publications were found that focused on information regarding additive manufacturing applied to civil construction, the technology that involves 3D printing and the application of natural materials in the project context. As a result, the research concluded that there are challenges and possibilities for 3D printing in architecture, a technology that can revolutionize the construction sector. Among the main challenges are scale, quality of materials, regulation and sustainability. However, it is evident that these barriers need to be overcome for 3D printing to become a common and widely adopted practice in the construction industry.
