Engenharia Florestal.Com o presente trabalho objetivou-se quantificar o crescimento em diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) de Cupressus lusitanica e, assim, avaliar o potencial produtivo da espécie no Planalto Sul de Santa Catarina. A espécie é uma conífera arbórea da América Central e México, sendo popularmente conhecida como cipreste, podendo atingir 30 metros de altura e 100 cm de diâmetro a altura do peito (DAP). O povoamento estudado estava situado no município de Campo Belo do Sul, foi implantado com espaçamento de 2,5 m x 2,5 m (1.600 árv ha-1) em 1999 e efetuado o corte raso em 2015. Os discos foram lixados para melhor visualização dos anéis anuais de crescimento e a medição da espessura dos anéis foi realizada em meio digital, com precisão de 0,01 mm. O modelo matemático que apresentou o melhor ajuste foi o modelo Exponencial. Verificou-se que o incremento corrente anual em diâmetro das árvores estudadas culminou por volta dos 4 anos, com valores próximos a 3,0 cm. Observou-se ainda, que a curva do incremento médio anual (IMA) culminou e interceptou a curva de incremento corrente anual (ICA) entre 7-8 anos com 2,0 cm. Conclui-se Apesar de estudos adicionais serem necessários para indivíduos potenciais, que o crescimento em DAP de C. lusitanica no Sul do Brasil é comparável ao de Pinus taeda e Eucalyptus dunnii. Aos 15 anos de idade a espécie apresentou DAP médio sem casca de 26 cm, com indivíduos potencias que atingiram a 33 cm na mesma idade, demonstrando potencial produtivo para região proposta.The objective of this study was to quantify the growth in diameter at the chest height diameter of C. lusitanica and, to evaluate the productive potential of the species in the Southern Plateau of Santa Catarina. The species is a conifer tree of Central America and Mexico, and it is known as cypress, being able to reach 30 meters of height and 100 cm of dap. C. lusitanica can be a differentiated option of forest production in the Santa Catarina Plateau due to the adaptation of the species to the edaphoclimatic conditions of this region. Although considered of great potential for forest management in southern Brazil, due to its silvicultural characteristics and wood quality, little information is available on the real productivity of commercial stands. The study was located in the municipality of Campo Belo do Sul, was implanted with a spacing of 2.5 m x 2.5 m (1,600 tree ha-1) in 1990 and was cut in 2005. The discs were sanded for better visualization of the annual growth rings, and the thickness of the rings was measured in a digital medium with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. It was verified that the annual increment in diameter of the trees studied culminated around 4 years, with values close to 3.0 cm. From then on, as expected, the current increment showed a strong reduction. It was also observed that the IMA curve culminated and intercepted the ICA curve between 7-8 years with 2.0 cm. It is concluded that the growth in diameter at the breast height of C. lusitanica in the Southern Plateau of Brazil is comparable to that of Pinus taeda and Eucalyptus dunnii.
