Um ponto comum entre todas as novas tecnologias é a utilização da internet como plataforma de troca de informações, permitindo a comunicação entre um número ilimitado de dispositivos e de pessoas. A Indústria 4.0 surge neste contexto, digitalizando os processos industriais ao integrá-los e controlá-los a partir de equipamentos conectados em rede e da fusão do mundo real com o virtual. Este modelo desponta como caminho natural para aumentar a competitividade, mas ainda é pouco explorado pela grande maioria das empresas brasileiras. Desta maneira, o objetivo deste trabalho é elaborar um constructo teórico sobre a In¬dústria 4.0, em função de sua relevância para a produtividade industrial, no setor automotivo, devido a grande contribuição de toda esta cadeia produtiva para a economia nacional. A metodologia utilizada no seu desenvolvimento é baseada em uma abordagem quantitativa de natureza aplicada, na perspectiva de análise bibliométrica, tornando possível a quantificação de índices de produção após seleção de portfólio bibliográfico adequado, e uma abordagem qualitativa baseada em pesquisa bibliográfica, levantando os principais tópicos referentes à Indústria 4.0 através da elaboração de um constructo teórico completo e com algumas sugestões de implantação envolvendo planejamento estratégico, possíveis projetos e mudanças organizacionais necessárias.The technological advances of recent years have continually changed our daily lives. A common point among all new technologies is the use of Internet as a platform for information exchange, allowing communication between an unlimited number of devices and people. Industry 4.0 emerges in this context, with the digitalization of industrial processes by integrating and controlling them from networked equipment and from a fusion of real and virtual world. This model emerges as a natural way to increase competitiveness, but it is not so explored yet by the great majority of Brazilian companies. Therefore, this paper’s focus is to develop a theoretical construct about Industry 4.0, due to its relevance to industrial productivity, in the automotive context, due to the great contribution of this entire production chain to the national economy.
