Reflections on social suffering and chronic kidney disease

Resumo: Aim: theoretically discuss the concepts of social suffering of people with chronic conditions. Methods: this is a theoretical reflection based on texts about social suffering and a statement of a person with chronic kidney disease. The analysis consisted of the repeated reading of such narrative and immersion in the data to articulate theoretical aspects of social suffering. Results: three reflective categories were developed. The first one is a brief contextualization about social suffering; the second is the narrative of a person with kidney disease which was used as a broader context for the third stage of the reflection, in which engaged along considerations and framework interfaces with the narrative. Conclusion: The social suffering referente may contribute to broaden the traditional way of looking at a person's suffering with chronic conditions; as well as raise awareness and guide the disciplines that constitute the health care, both at the micro level, in the fulfillment of care, as at the macro, with public policy development

Método: reflexión teórica de textos sobre sufrimiento social y una narrativa de una persona con enfermedad renal crónica. El análisis consistió en lectura repetida de la narrativa e inmersión en los datos para articular aspectos teóricos de sufrimiento social. Resultados: fueron construidas tres categorías: la primera una contextualización sobre el sufrimiento social; la segunda presenta el relato de una persona con enfermedad renal que sirvió de referencia para la tercera etapa de la reflexión, en que se realizaron consideraciones e interfaces desde el referencial. Conclusión: el marco del sufrimiento social puede contribuir para ampliar la forma tradicional de ver el sufrimiento de una persona en condición crónica; además de sensibilizar y orientar las disciplinas que constituyen la salud, tanto al nivel micro, en la realización del cuidado, como en el macro, con el desarrollo de políticas públicas.Objetivo: discutir teoricamente sobre as concepções do sofrimento social de pessoas em condição crônica. Método: trata-se de uma reflexão teórica a partir de textos sobre sofrimento social e de uma narrativa de uma pessoa com doença renal crônica. A análise consistiu na leitura repetida da narrativa e imersão nos dados para articular aspectos teóricos do sofrimento social. Resultados: foram construídas três categorias reflexivas: na primeira uma contextualização acerca do sofrimento social; na segunda apresenta-se a narrativa a qual serviu como pano de fundo para a terceira etapa da reflexão, em que se teceram considerações e interfaces do referencial.
