Resumo: Different modes of representation of violence in Sophocles' Antigone, in Gonçalves Dias´ drama Leonor Mendonça and mythical narratives of Simoes Lopes Neto are examined, highlighting the sense of violence in artistic creation. This analysis seeks especially to raise issues concerning the social-historical dimension of representation, especially taking into consideration women´s role in this process. In general, we seek to relate the sense of violence at the Greek Theater with the forms that came to be adopted in Modernism.

A presente análise procura, de modo especial levantar aspectos concernentes à dimensão histórico-social da representação, considerando sobretudo a participação da mulher nesse processo.
