Resumo: | This research aims to support certain reflections on the human experience in the midst of World War I and the importance that literature has for the construction and preservation of the memory of this conflict. In this article the book that will guide the remarks is the novel “All Quiet on the Western Front” (Im Westen nichts Neues) by Erich Maria Remarque, a German war veteran who excels in building in his work characters that symbolize the inhuman logic of war, the confrontation between nations and how the individual reacted to the costs of the first great conflict of the 20th Century, as well as Max Arthur's book “Forgotten Voices of the Great War” which in partnership with the Imperial War Museum presents real reports of soldiers and civilians who experienced this context. |
