Resumo: The Brazilian civil-military dictatorship was a period that left a series of deleterious effects on the country, especially in culture and politics. Starting from this situation, this article’s main objective is to examine the trilogy of civil-military dictatorship and exile through the works of Fernando Gabeira, namely: 1) O que é isso, companheiro? (1979); 2) O crepúsculo do macho (1980); and, 3) Entradas e bandeiras (1981). Regarding the theoretical perspective of analysis, we anchored our study through Testimony Literature (Seligmann-Silva, 2005; Salgueiro, 2012) and on the political memory of the period. Methodologically, we will seek to carry out a bibliographical review and a historical reconstruction based on the books analyzed. As a result of the research, we found that Gabeira’s books acted as a catharsis for the author to try to find himself again after so many traumas, dramas, and forced exile.

(1979); 2) O crepúsculo do macho (1980); e, 3) Entradas e bandeiras(1981).
