Prevalence of cervical-vaginal cytopathological examination and microflora in elderly women from Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul

The cervical-vaginal cytopathological examination is very important for the screening of cervical cancer. A descriptive study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of cervical-vaginal cytopathological examination and microflora in elderly women in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, between January 2010 and December 2013. They were investigated in isolation the “number of exams”, “altered examinations”, “Lactobacillus”, “Coconuts”, “Sug. Chlamydia”, “Actinomyces sp.”, “Trichomonas”, “Come gr. Herpes”, “Bacil supracit”, “Other bacilli”, “Other”, “Carc.Epid.invasor”, “Adenocarc. In Situ”, “Adenocarc. Invader” and “Other neoplasms” in the age range of “60 to 64 years” and“ above 64 years”. During this period 4822 examinations were carried out, 1975 presented the coccus microorganism and 1661 other bacilli. No data on cancer were reported. It is concluded that there is a low adherence on the part of the elderly of Santa Maria in the accomplishment of this examination.
