Resumo: This work aimed to analyze the list of triggers, which help in the identification of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), adopted by the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics Jamil Haddad (INTO), as a way to assist other hospital units in this activity. The current INTO list is divided into three parts: changed laboratory parameters; prescription of “defined drugs” (drugs newly incorporated in the institution, antibiotics with less than 10 years on the market or potentially toxic); and the third, antidotes and antiallergics. It was observed that INTO adopted most of the triggers suggested by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), but opted to remove some and include others more in line with its reality, obtaining a roll with a greater number of triggers in relation to the proposal of the IHI. The analysis of INTO triggers can help hospitals to use ADR triggers by making similar adaptations to the list suggested by the IHI, contributing to ADR investigations, resulting in gains for the service and patient safety.
