Resumo: Objective: To identify in the national scientific literature the importance of exclusive breastfeeding in the first hour of life of the newborn. Methods: Integrative review, with qualitative approach and data collection in Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences and Nursing Database, using the descriptors “Breastfeeding” and “Newborn” and “First Hour “ The search resulted in 40 articles, seven of which were selected for analysis. Results: Breast milk is fundamental for the healthy development of the newborn and breastfeeding is also beneficial to the mother. The limiting factors of this practice were the care restricted to the rules of the hospital institution, the cesarean section, the non-performance of prenatal care and the lack of incentive for joint accommodation. Conclusion: breastfeeding in the newborn’s first hour of life is a challenge, and professional training is essential to stimulate the act and the improvement of breastfeeding promotion, protection and support policies to face its limiting factors

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2020-04-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/4174510.5902/2236583441745Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.46, n.1, jan.-abr. 2020Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.46, n.1, jan.-abr. 20202236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/41745/pdfCopyright (c) 2020 Saúde (Santa Maria)info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Cláudia Patrícia Vargas daFettermann, Fernanda AlmeidaAssumpção, Priscila Kurz deRosa, Andrieli Berger daFernandes, Marcelo Nunes da SilvaDonaduzzi, Daiany Saldanha da Silveira2020-04-28T17:39:30Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/41745Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2020-04-28T17:39:30Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
