Bacteriological analysis of water used for human consumption at Sítio Bela Vista, Barbalha - CE

Resumo: | The study aimed to carry out bacteriological analysis of the water used for human consumption at Sítio Bela Vista in the city of Barbalha, Ceará, to evaluate the presence of total coliforms and Escherichia coli in the samples, as well as the hygienic-sanitary conditions close to the spring. Three collections were made in sterile borosilicate glass flasks with an interval of eight days between them, from the spring, from the water tank of distribution and from 4 random residences, thus totaling 18 samples. The analysis was performed using the chromogenic and fluorogenic substrate method, which consists of adding the contents of a flacon containing these substrates to the flasks that were closed and then vigorously shaken and incubated in an oven at 35 ° C for 24 hours, performing reading against normal light and ultraviolet light. A checklist was also applied which addressed issues related to the contamination of the region close to the source. The results obtained for total coliforms were not satisfactory, being present in 100% of the samples. In relation to E. coli, it was present in 33.3% of the samples analyzed, and these results may then be related to the presence of contaminants near the source and the lack of hygiene in the water tanks and taps in the homes. In view of these results, according to Ordinance No. 2,914 of the Ministry of Health, water is unsuitable for human consumption and that is why it is extremely important to create public policies that reinforce the relevance and need to clean water tanks. and taps in homes. |

Foram realizadas em frasco de vidro borosilicato estéreis três coletas com intervalo de oito dias entre elas, provenientes da nascente, da caixa-d’água de distribuição e de 4 residências aleatórias, totalizando assim 18 amostras. A realização da análise foi feita através do método do substrato cromogênico e fluorogênico que consiste na adição do conteúdo de um flaconete contendo esses substratos nos frascos que foram fechados e em seguida agitados vigorosamente e incubados em estufa a 35°C por 24 horas, realizando a leitura contra luz normal e luz ultravioleta. Foi também aplicado um checklist o qual abordou questões que se relacionam com a contaminação da região próxima à nascente. Os resultados obtidos para coliformes totais não foram satisfatórios, estando presente em 100% das amostras. Em relação a E. coli, esta apresentou-se em 33,3% das amostras analisadas, podendo então esses resultados estarem relacionados com a presença de contaminantes próximo a nascente e a falta de higienização das caixas d’água e das torneiras das residências.
