Resumo: Obesity is a multifactorial disease that has, among other relevant issues, inadequate food. Food insecurity is proposed as the mismatch of supply in quality, quantity and diversity. Therefore, the aim of this study was that obesity and food insecurity are closely linked. Method: This study is a literature review. The works exhibited here have shown that women are more prone to develop obesity, as well as food insecurity. Some felt the question income as a variable of interest, and obtained correlation with obesity and food insecurity. Therefore, the conclusion was that there is an association between food insecurity and obesity, so that the increased supply of unhealthy foods and / or access to these foods can enlarge the increase in body weight, and lead to obesity frame. Descriptors: Obesity; Food Security and Nutrition; Food; Nutrition.
