Resumo: Objective: To know the feelings of women who experience the climacteric about this phase of life. Method: Qualitative research with 18 women who experience the climacteric period carried out in a Family Health Strategy in a city in the southern region of Brazil. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview script in September 2016. The data analysis was based on Minayo’s Content Analysis. Results: The feelings most frequently cited by the interviewees were melancholy, low self-esteem and depression, as the climacteric is perceived as an unknown and mysterious period, which refers to aging, losses and denial. In this sense, nursing care needs to be embodied in the emotional, social, biological, sexual, environmental and cultural aspects that permeate the climacteric. Conclusion: In this perspective, for a qualified performance in the area of health care for climacteric women, it is essential to practice practices that value prior knowledge and experienced feelings, thus providing a space for the construction of knowledge and actions in this field of knowledge.

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2020-05-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/4179710.5902/2236583441797Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.46, n.1, jan.-abr. 2020Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.46, n.1, jan.-abr. 20202236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/41797/pdfCopyright (c) 2020 Saúde (Santa Maria)info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessEbling, Sandra Beatris DinizPiecha, Veronica HemannSehnem, Graciela DutraSilva, Marciele Moreira daSilva, Silvana de OliveiraPieszak, Greice MachadoFettermann, Fernanda Almieda2020-05-05T19:22:58Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/41797Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2020-05-05T19:22:58Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
