Resumo: Objective: to evaluate the nutritional status, sociodemographic characteristics, nutritional knowledge, food intake and life habits of primary school teachers from a private school in the south of São Paulo. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study approved by the Research Ethics Committee and approved under CAAE 74343317.8.0000.5377 and number 2,270,153. The teachers answered a questionnaire containing the sociodemographic variables, nutritional knowledge, food intake and also other life habits and self-reported weight and height.  Results: The study included 40 teachers with a mean age of 38.7 ± 8.0 years, 83% female, 80% married, 68% belonging to socioeconomic class B, 63% with moderate nutritional knowledge, 55% overweight and in relation to food consumption and other life habits 65% were classified as "need to improve".  Final considerations: Based on these results, it is concluded that most teachers were overweight, belonged to socioeconomic class B, had moderate nutritional knowledge  and needed to make adjustments in food intake and other life habits. Health promotion actions in the school environment must be strengthened, given that these professionals exert a role of influence in the practices and attitudes of students through coexistence among peers.
