Analysis of scientific production on the National Health Promotion Policy in Brazil: a bibliometric study in the Virtual Health Library

This study aims to map and analyze the scientific production on the National Health Promotion Policy in the period from 2006 to 2019 in Brazil. For this, a bibliometric research was carried out, through the search for articles in the Virtual Health Library, from 2006 to 2019, with the keyword “national health promotion policy”, which must be in the title of the manuscripts. The search returned 56 documents, of which 8 were excluded for not having open access, 6 for not being articles and 14 for not being carried out in Brazil. Thus, bibliometrics was performed with the remaining 26 articles. The results showed the predominance of articles in 2016, in the Revista Ciência e Saúde Coletiva. Regarding the method used in the articles, theoretical studies prevailed, and, as for matters related to the national health promotion policy, most studies were of public policy analysis. There is a lack of empirical studies on the PNPS, making it possible to measure the impact of this public policy on the health of Brazilians.
