“Worth a photo?” Children and their perspectives on cities in the interior of São Paulo through photography and photographic exhibitions

Resumo: Through a literature review and field work, this article aims to present some considerations related to children's themes, their perceptions of cities and urban spaces through aesthetic and art training. Based on works carried out in the field of Art, more precisely photography, it addresses issues related to urban spaces, their peculiarities, the possibilities of aesthetic and social experiences and the children's view of what such spaces offer. It presents records of experiences linked to the field of photography, children's perceptions in relation to images and urban spaces, through photographic outings and visits to photography exhibitions. This discussion intends to demonstrate that through Art and aesthetic training it is possible to think of cities and urban spaces as places more susceptible to humanization, of a healthier “inhabitation”, beyond the mere needs of production.

A partir de trabajos realizados en el campo del Arte, más precisamente de la fotografía, aborda cuestiones relacionadas con los espacios urbanos, sus peculiaridades, las posibilidades de experiencias estéticas y sociales y la mirada infantil sobre lo que ofrecen dichos espacios. Presenta registros de experiencias vinculadas al campo de la fotografía, las percepciones de los niños en relación a las imágenes y los espacios urbanos, a través de salidas para sesiones fotográficas y visitas a exposiciones fotográficas. Con esta discusión, se pretende demostrar que, a través del arte y la formación estética, es posible pensar las ciudades y los espacios urbanos como lugares más susceptibles de humanización, de un “habitar” más saludable, más allá de las meras necesidades de producción.Mediante revisão de literatura e trabalho de campo, este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar algumas considerações relacionadas às temáticas das crianças, suas percepções sobre as cidades e espaços urbanos por meio da formação estética e da Arte. A partir de trabalhos realizados no campo da Arte, mais precisamente da fotografia, aborda questões voltadas aos espaços urbanos, suas peculiaridades, as possibilidades de experiências estéticas e sociais e o olhar das crianças para o que tais espaços oferecem. Apresenta registros de experiências ligadas ao campo da fotografia, as percepções das crianças em relação às imagens e a espaços urbanos, por meio de saídas fotográficas e visitas a exposições de fotografia.
