Resumo: | The present work is the result of a discourse analysis from the current President of the Republic, Michel Temer, during the celebration ceremony of the International Women’s Day 2017. The main query of this study was to verify how the resources of graduation contribute to the construction of the evaluation and to the characterization of the speech regarding the degree of the President’s involvement in the matter. In this sense, we have adopted Appraisal (WHITE, 2004, MARTIN, WHITE, 2005) as the main theoretical contribution, especially the subsystem of graduation. The results have shown the predominance of graduation resources of the intensification force type that have contributed to building the idea of assertiveness of the President’s speech |

A questão principal deste estudo foi verificar como os recursos de gradação contribuíam para a construção da avaliação e para a caracterização do discurso quanto ao grau de envolvimento do Presidente. Nesse intuito, adotamos como principal aporte teórico o Sistema de Avaliatividade (WHITE, 2004; MARTIN; WHITE, 2015), de modo especial o subsistema de gradação.
