Resumo: Professionals in the area of public security live daily with a plurality of feelings, since they carry out their activities in the midst of high levels of tension. In this field, they are included as Military, Civil and Criminal Police, whose work environment can reveal daily challenges capable of negatively influencing the health of individuals. Their duties often spill over into their personal lives, given that police officers, for example, have professional obligations even when they are not on duty. In this sense, it is important to understand how these challenges affect the health of professionals. According to the World Health Organization, health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing. As a result, this research seeks to analyze the relationships between the types of challenges faced by public security professionals and the components of Social Wellbeing and Social Wellbeing at Work. In order to do so, it was necessary to build the Public Safety Professionals Challenge Scale, as well as carry out the cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Social Well-being Scales (SWBS), developed by Keyes (1998), as well as the Occupational Social Wellbeing Inventory. (OSWI), which was developed by Ali Kazemi (2017). Keyes (1998) defines Social Wellbeing as a set of challenges that each individual faces in their social life, encompassing aspects of integration, acceptance and even contribution to the community and/or society in which they are inserted. In turn, Occupational Social Wellbeing means social life properly experienced in the context of work (KAZEMI, 2017). For that, an exploratory and descriptive research was used, of the survey type, using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample consisted of 1292 public security professionals in Brazil. Data analysis took place through Structural Equation Modeling. The results demonstrated the statistical adequacy of the constructed scale, as well as the two foreign scales adapted for Brazil. The hypotheses confirmed that the Health Challenges caused by the public security profession tend to have a negative impact on all dimensions of Social Wellbeing and Social Wellbeing at Work. In turn, the results confirmed that Social Challenges tend to have a negative influence only on the professional's integration with society, on the professional's trust in other citizens and on the future perspective of society. Still, the study showed that Social Challenges can increase integration and companionship among co-workers, although this relationship has not been confirmed with colleagues who have leadership positions. The conclusions demonstrate the need for continuous assessment of security professionals regarding these issues and also reinforced the importance of psychological treatment to prevent illness due to trauma linked to the performance of the profession. As suggestions for future studies, it highlights the deepening of statistical analyzes that allow improving the discriminant validity and the face validity of scales. It would also be relevant to apply the scales in stratified samples, aiming to verify the statistical adequacy for more homogeneous samples, which have, for example, a symmetrical control of the number of police officers from different careers, as well as from different genres, professional activities and regions of the country.

It would also be relevant to apply the scales in stratified samples, aiming to verify the statistical adequacy for more homogeneous samples, which have, for example, a symmetrical control of the number of police officers from different careers, as well as from different genres, professional activities and regions of the country.Profissionais da área da segurança pública convivem com uma pluralidade de sentimentos, uma vez que desempenham atividades em meio a elevados níveis de tensão. Nesse ramo estão inseridos como Polícia Militar, Civil e Penal, cujo ambiente laboral pode revelar desafios diários capazes de influenciar negativamente na saúde dos indivíduos. Suas funções geralmente transbordam para a vida pessoal, haja vista que policiais, por exemplo, possuem obrigações da profissão até mesmo quando não estão em serviço. Nesse sentido, convém compreender como esses desafios interferem na saúde do profissional. Segundo a Organização Mundial da Saúde, a saúde é o estado de completo Bem-estar físico, mental e social. Em razão disso, esta pesquisa busca analisar as relações entre os tipos de desafios dos profissionais de segurança pública e os componentes do Bem-estar Social e do Bem-estar Social no Trabalho. Para isso, foi necessário construir a Escala de Desafios dos Profissionais de Segurança Pública, bem como realizar a adaptação transcultural e validação da Social Well-being Scales (SWBS), desenvolvida por Keyes (1998), bem como da Occupational Social Well-being Inventory (OSWI), a qual fora desenvolvida por Ali Kazemi (2017). Keyes (1998) define Bem-estar Social como um conjunto de desafios que cada indivíduo enfrenta em sua vida social, englobando aspectos de integração, aceitação e até mesmo contribuição com a comunidade e/ou sociedade na qual está inserido. Por sua vez, o Bem-estar Social Ocupacional significa a vida social devidamente vivenciada no contexto do trabalho (KAZEMI, 2017). Para tanto, fez-se uso de uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, do tipo survey, utilizando-se de abordagens qualitativa e quantitativa. A amostra foi constituída por 1292 participantes. A análise dos dados ocorreu por meio de Modelagem de Equações Estruturais. Os resultados demonstraram a adequação estatística da escala construída, bem como das duas escalas estrangeiras adaptadas para o Brasil. As hipóteses confirmaram que os Desafios de Saúde ocasionados pela profissão de segurança pública tendem a impactar negativamente em todas as dimensões do Bem-estar Social e do Bem-estar Social no Trabalho. Por sua vez, os resultados confirmaram que Desafios Sociais tendem a influenciar negativamente apenas na integração do profissional com a sociedade, na confiança do profissional nos demais cidadãos e na perspectiva de futuro da sociedade. Ainda, o estudo demonstrou que os Desafios Sociais podem aumentar a integração e o companheirismo entre os colegas de trabalho, embora essa relação não tenha sido confirmada com colegas que possuem cargos de chefia. As conclusões demonstram a necessidade de avaliação contínua dos profissionais de segurança no que tange esses temas e também reforçaram a importância do tratamento psicológico para evitar o adoecimento em razão de traumas vinculados ao desempenho da profissão. Como sugestões para estudos futuros destaca o aprofundamento de análises estatísticas que permitam aprimorar a validade discriminante e a validade de face das escalas. Também seria relevante aplicar as escalas em amostras estratificadas, visando verificar a adequação estatística para amostras mais homogêneas, as quais possuam, por exemplo, um controle simétrico do número de policiais de diferentes carreiras, bem como de diferentes gêneros, atuações profissionais e regiões do país.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em AdministraçãoUFSMBrasilAdministraçãoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBem-estar socialBem-estar social no trabalhoProfissionais de segurança públicaPolíciaPoliciaisSocial wellbeingSocial wellbeing at workPublic safety professionalsPolicePolicemenCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::ADMINISTRACAOOs desafios dos profissionais de segurança pública e suas relações com o bem-estar social e o bem-estar social no trabalhoThe challenges of public safety professionals and their relations with social well-being and social well-being at workinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisLopes, Luis Felipe Diashttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1074372911061770Camargo, Maria EmíliaRondon Filho, Edson BeneditoCosta, Vania Medianeira FloresFormiga, Francis Albert Cottahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6954473064636289Corrêa, Jonathan Saidelles6002000000066006006006006006006001dc759c3-23ad-4b07-ab5e-be9634c1de0627cc0b3c-1446-4230-9fa1-4ea370917c6f30700f15-7501-4ca0-8bfa-8fb2897ebac4db9d8f84-8782-4b71-bdb4-a6ebbd6b7dfe280f055d-d5e4-46ca-8bfd-24541d6e625bc56f340c-0c5d-442d-af68-4ef58de27c5dreponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGADMINISTRAÇÃO_2022_CORRÊA_JONATHAN.pdfTES_PPGADMINISTRAÇÃO_2022_CORRÊA_JONATHAN.pdfTese de doutoradoapplication/pdf3138372http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/27044/1/TES_PPGADMINISTRA%c3%87%c3%83O_2022_CORR%c3%8aA_JONATHAN.pdfaf36bd20db42a9d75903a192414bab63MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
