Resumo: | Nowadays, organizations face a highly competitive environment where customer satisfaction and loyalty are important factors for success. In this scenario, it is necessary to use performance improvement methods of production processes. The DMAIC, which is part of the Six Sigma methodology, allows to identify, analyze and improve processes through a consistent, clear and understandable systematic. This study aimed to improve the crushing process performance through application of Six Sigma methodology. It was intended to reduce the crushing process production cost, as well as increasing the final output. It were followed the steps Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control of DMAIC cycle. The method was applied in a crushing plant of a highway construction company of national scope. It was used action research approach, in which the critical features of the company were defined, at first, and related to the crushing process. Then, it was evaluated the potential economic gain from the project, set up the data collection method and applied some tools, which identified the production losses and analyzed the current capability of the production system. The study, based on the methodology, proved the production losses and costs from process inefficiency and provided sustainable improvement actions, through the implementation of an experiment project and of simple and creative improvement actions over the identified losses. It is concluded, therefore, that the project was effective in the losses identification process, and contributed to productivity by identifying improvement actions. The statistical analysis used in the Six Sigma program, although using simple tools, was essential for the sustainability, continuity and reliability of the study. |

Diante desse cenário, faz-se necessária a utilização de metodologias de melhoria de performance dos processos produtivos das empresas. O DMAIC, que faz parte do método Seis Sigma, permite identificar, analisar e melhorar os processos por meio de uma sistemática consistente, clara e compreensível. Este trabalho teve como objetivo melhorar o desempenho do processo de britagem através da aplicação da metodologia Seis Sigma. Desta forma pretendeu-se diminuir o custo de produção do processo de britagem, além de aumentar a produção final da britagem. Foram seguidas as etapas Definir, Medir, Analisar, Melhorar e Controlar do ciclo DMAIC. O método foi aplicado em unidade de britagem de uma construtora de rodovias de âmbito nacional. Para conduzir este trabalho utilizou-se o método da pesquisa-ação em que, primeiramente, definiram-se as características críticas para o negócio da empresa, as quais foram relacionadas com a britagem estudada. Em seguida, avaliou-se o potencial de ganho econômico com o projeto, definiu-se o método de coleta de dados, e aplicou-se algumas ferramentas, onde identificaram-se as perdas produtivas e foi analisada a capabilidade atual do sistema produtivo. O estudo, a partir da metodologia, comprovou as perdas de produção e os custos da ineficiência do processo e proporcionou ações de melhorias sustentáveis, através da aplicação deum projeto de experimento e de ações de melhorias simples e criativas em cima das perdas levantadas. Conclui-se, assim, que o projeto mostrou-se eficaz no processo de identificação de perdas, além de contribuir para o aumento da produtividade através da identificação de ações de melhorias.
