Resumo: This work purpose is to evaluate the contribution of research for the development of competences, considering the point of view of teachers and students involved in the professional education process, having as a parameter the effectiveness of the method used. The survey result analysis leads us to realize that teachers and students understand the importance of research as well as its objectives concerning teaching strategies. It also reveals a set of competence attributes developed during the research. From the comparison of the students performances, using indicators established by the school research method, we could identify a significant quality increase during the two year work process. In sum, we can conclude that the research used as a teaching method has highly contributed to develop competences at professional courses.

In sum, we can conclude that the research used as a teaching method has highly contributed to develop competences at professional courses.Este trabalho busca avaliar a contribuição da pesquisa no desenvolvimento de competências, a partir do olhar dos professores e alunos envolvidos em um processo de educação profissional, tendo como parâmetro a efetividade do método pelo qual esta se realiza. A análise do resultado dos questionários permitiu constatar que alunos e professores atribuem grande importância à realização de pesquisa e que têm clara noção dos seus objetivos enquanto estratégia de educação. Revela também um conjunto de atributos de competências que, na percepção destes atores, são desenvolvidos pela atividade de pesquisa. A comparação de desempenho, a partir dos indicadores disponibilizados pelo método de pesquisa usado na escola, permitiu identificar melhorias significativas de qualidade em diversas fases do trabalho dos alunos, em dois anos consecutivos.
