The garment industry in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná: perceptions on the generation of solid waste

Resumo: The production and treatment of waste is a problem in today's society and one of the productive sectors that deserves to be highlighted in relation to waste is the one involved with fashion. The clothing manufacturing industry is part of this sector and the generation of waste is significant, especially the fabric retail. In order to analyze the production and destination of this type of waste, the production of clothing in the municipality of Maringá, PR is discussed here. For that, the qualitative approach methodology was used, more specifically the study of multiple cases and applied methods of production and analysis of the semi-structured interview. The study allows us to understand the ways of understanding the problem of waste generation and management from the perspective of actors and institutions directly involved in the process, namely: the owners of the factories, the employees, the public agencies.

La industria de confección forma parte de este sector y la generación de residuos es importante, especialmente el comercio minorista de tejidos. Con la preocupación de analizar la producción y destino de este tipo de residuos, se analiza aquí la producción de prendas de vestir en el municipio de Maringá, PR. Para ello se utilizó la metodología de enfoque cualitativo, más específicamente el estudio de casos múltiples, y se aplicaron métodos de producción y análisis de entrevistas semiestructuradas. El estudio permite comprender formas de entender el problema de la generación y gestión de residuos desde la perspectiva de actores e instituciones directamente involucradas en el proceso, a saber: propietarios de fábricas, empleados, organismos públicos.A produção e tratamento de resíduos é um problema na sociedade atual e um dos setores produtivos que merece destaque em relação aos resíduos é o envolvido com a moda. A indústria de confecção do vestuário é parte desse setor e nele a geração de resíduos é significativa, especialmente o retalho de tecido. Com a preocupação de analisar a produção e destino desse tipo de resíduo é aqui discutida a produção do vestuário no município de Maringá, PR. Para tanto foi utilizada a metodologia da abordagem qualitativa, mais especificamente o estudo de casos múltiplos e aplicados métodos de produção e análise da entrevista semiestruturada.
