Pedagogical coordinator: an empirical review of thesis and dissertations abstracts produced in Brazil from 1988 to 2012

Resumo: This paper aims to present an empirical review regarding the pedagogical coordinator and the importance of the study about this professional, in view of his or her relevance for the studies about school administration. Data were collected in Capes database from 1988 to 2012. It is noted that there was a significant growth of researches from 2006 to 2008. The researches are concentrated mainly in São Paulo, with the largest number of studies. The categories found were: history of the pedagogical coordinator function; identity, function, constitution of the pedagogical coordinator function; initial and continuing education of the pedagogical coordinator; performance of the pedagogical coordinator in the school; relations between the pedagogical coordinator and the other professionals of the school; opinion or vision of the pedagogical coordinator about different situations of the school routine. We consider that researches about the pedagogical coordinator are relevant for the comprehension of his or her role and of all forms of performance in the school.Key-words: pedagogical coordinator, empirical review, theses and dissertations.

Os dados foram coletados na base de dados da Capes no período de 1988 a 2012. Nota-se que houve um significativo crescimento de pesquisas no período entre 2006 e 2008. As pesquisas concentram-se, principalmente, em São Paulo com o maior número de trabalhos. As categorias encontradas foram: histórico da função coordenador pedagógico; identidade, função, constituição da função coordenador pedagógico; formação inicial e continuada do coordenador pedagógico; atuação do coordenador pedagógico na escola; relações entre o coordenador pedagógico e os demais profissionais da escola; opinião ou visão do coordenador pedagógico sobre diferentes situações do cotidiano escolar.
