Instruments used for the evaluation of managers: similarities and differences

With premises related to school manager education, elements of professional performance evaluation began to emerge as a procedure to assist in improvements. In this sense, manager evaluation has become more than an option. This study aims to analyze the instruments that have been used for evaluating school managers in one of the wealthiest regions of Brazil. A qualitative methodology was employed, based on document analysis. The results revealed inconsistencies in the examined instruments. We highlight the lack of clarity in objectives, high similarity between the aspects used to evaluate the principal or the pedagogical coordinator, and above all, the absence of quality criteria, making the instruments more subjective and inconsistent, compromising the validity and usefulness of the obtained results.
