Resumo: | This article aims to analyze the profile of students with intellectual disabilities (ID) enrolled in Special Youth and Adult Education (segregated classes and institutions) in the State of Minas Gerais, between 2008 and 2019. To achieve the paper’s main goal, we analyzed the microdata from the School Census of Basic Education, provided by National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). It is perceived that on the Special Youth and Adult Education modality there is a prevalence of students with intellectual disabilities enrollment, the majority being of male gender (55% on average) and of white color/race (27% on average). Besides, the majority of these enrollments concentrates on elementary education stage (65% on average) and in the 15 to 20 age group (27% on average), which represents the “youthfication” of Youth and Adult Education, and confirms that students haven’t had effective schooling processes at a regular age. This study still shows the maintenance of inequalities which characterize the access to education in Brazil. |
