Resumo: Elephant grass has great importance in regions of tropical and subtropical climate, especially in dairy farms. Normally, this forage is established in monoculture under conventional production, using high levels of nitrogen fertilization. The establishment in mixture with other species, combined with the use of organic fertilizers can be characterized as a more sustainable production strategy. Under these conditions, few studies were developed, either under conventional production or under organic production. The present work involves two studies in which the objective was to evaluate the productivity, nutritive value and growth dynamics of elephantgrass leaves and tillers in pastures submitted to conventional and organic production systems under grazing conditions. In the first study, with meta-analysis, we used data from 20 experiments, adding 354 observations, of elephantgrass pastures under grazing conditions between 2002 and 2016. The treatments consisted of five forage production systems, four under conventional production (1-4) and one under organic production (5): 1) elephant grass in monoculture + chemical fertilizer; 2) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + chemical fertilizer; 3) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + forage peanut + chemical fertilizer; 4) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + clover + chemical fertilizer; 5) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + organic fertilizer. In the second study, which evaluated the morphogenic characteristics of elephantgrass, the experiment was conducted between September 2015 and May 2017. The treatments consisted of three forage production systems, two under conventional production (1-2) and one under organic production (3): 1) elephant grass in monoculture + chemical fertilizer; 2) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + chemical fertilizer; 3) elephant grass in mixture with other grasses + organic fertilizer. For this study, the experimental design was a completely randomized, with three treatments, three replications, with repeated measures in time. For the productive variables of the pasture, biomass of leaf blades and forage accumulation rate, the highest results were obtained in the monoculture system, especially in the summer. On the other hand, for crude protein content, higher values were observed in systems with forage mixtures under organic production and consortium with legumes. For the morphogenic characteristics no differences were observed between conventional production systems in monoculture and organic production. However, there was a seasonal pattern of variation in morphogenic responses and structural composition of elephantgrass characterized by higher growth rates and proportion of leaf blades in the spring, decreasing with the advancement of the production cycle, in summer through fall. However, there was an inverse behavior with increase of tillering rate and leaf senescence reduction, indicating maintenance of elephant grass productivity at the end of the summer period. It is concluded that the systems in with forage mixtures, under conventional or organic production, presented productivity equivalent to the monoculture system under conventional production.

Normalmente, essa forrageira é estabelecida em monocultivo sob a produção convencional, sendo usados elevados níveis de fertilização nitrogenada. O estabelecimento em mistura com outras espécies, aliado ao uso de adubos orgânicos pode ser caracterizada como uma estratégia de produção mais sustentável. Nessas condições, poucos estudos foram desenvolvidos, tanto sob a produção convencional quanto sob a produção orgânica. O presente trabalho envolve dois estudos em que se objetivou avaliar a produtividade, o valor nutritivo e a dinâmica de crescimento de folhas e perfilhos do capim elefante, em pastos submetidos aos sistemas de produção convencional e orgânica em condições de pastejo. No primeiro estudo, com avaliação por meio de meta-análise, foram utilizados dados de 20 experimentos, somando 354 observações, de pastos de capim elefante sob condições de pastejo, entre 2002 e 2016. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por cinco sistemas de produção forrageira, quatro sob a produção convencional (1-4) e um sob a produção orgânica (5): 1) capim elefante em monocultivo + adubo químico; 2) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + adubo químico; 3) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + amendoim forrageiro + adubo químico; 4) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + trevo + adubo químico; 5) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + adubo orgânico. No segundo estudo, em que se avaliou as características morfogênicas do capim elefante, o experimento foi conduzido entre setembro de 2015 e maio de 2017. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por três sistemas de produção forrageira, dois sob a produção convencional (1-2) e um sob a produção orgânica (3): 1) capim elefante em monocultivo + adubo químico; 2) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + adubo químico; 3) capim elefante em mistura com outras gramíneas + adubo orgânico. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com três tratamentos, três repetições, com medidas repetidas no tempo. Para as variáveis produtivas do pasto, biomassa de lâminas foliares e taxa de acúmulo de forragem, os maiores resultados foram obtidos no sistema sob monocultivo, sobretudo no verão. Por outro lado, para o teor de proteína bruta, maiores valores foram observados nos sistemas com misturas forrageiras sob produção orgânica e consórcio com leguminosas. Para as características morfogênicas não foram observadas diferenças entre os sistemas de produção convencional em monocultivo e orgânica. Contudo, houve um padrão sazonal de variação nas respostas morfogênicas e composição estrutural do capim elefante caracterizada por maiores taxas de crescimento e proporção de lâminas foliares na primavera, diminuindo com o avanço do ciclo de produção, no verão até o outono. No entanto, houve comportamento inverso com aumento na taxa de aparecimento de perfilhos e diminuição de folhas em senescência, apontando manutenção da produtividade do capim elefante no final do período estival. Conclui-se que os sistemas em policultivo, sob produção convencional ou orgânica, apresentam produtividade equivalente ao sistema em monocultivo sob produção convencional.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências RuraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em ZootecniaUFSMBrasilZootecniaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAdubação químicaAdubação orgânicaArachis pintoiMeta-análiseMorfogênesePennisetum purpureumTrifolium spChemical fertilizationMeta-analysisMorphogenesisOrganic fertilizationCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIAS::ZOOTECNIAAvaliação de pastos de capim elefante em sistemas forrageiros de produção convencional e orgânica sob pastejoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisOlivo, Clair Jorgehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7352405107578701Meinerz, Gilmar Robertohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9192042379813082Sbrissia, Andre Fischerhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3048287060208404Glienke, Carine Lisetehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5115378654684782Quadros, Fernando Luiz Ferreira dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9202266292366562http://lattes.cnpq.br/4739329172628502Seibt, Daiane Cristine500400000002600ff2c8b95-f964-4e2e-a9d0-a7ca492ea47bedf00745-4077-4f4a-a658-28312c596e141035f3fb-148f-40bb-8b80-4a363df13365b3856724-1835-47bb-8ab0-a28d525b72f5fb5bb9fb-5cab-47c6-bf3a-9a7dc2ed3735086b525b-a279-42ef-b1ba-484a1d96ab8creponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
