O impacto do diagnóstico de Transtorno do Espectro Autista no contexto familiar: uma reflexão da terapia ocupacional

This research aimed to reflect on the impact of the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in the family context. To this end, an integrative review of the literature was performed, through the analysis of articles from indexed journals, in the databases of the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), with themes about the acceptance of the families of individuals with autism, their experiences and feelings with the discovery and social inclusion made after the diagnosis. The data collection was carried out during the months of February to March 2021, having as inclusion criteria the articles published in the last 10 years, in Portuguese language and that were available in full. Data analysis was performed by reading all the articles selected after the inclusion criteria were applied. The research made it possible to elucidate the importance of qualified professionals when reporting the positive diagnosis for Autism Spectrum Disorder, decreasing the impact of the news of this diagnosis in the family and so, preponderantly, to help the family and people with the disorder, in facing the difficulties experienced daily.
