Resumo: This research correlates the strategies used to deal with occupational stress situations (occupational coping) and engagement at work. A total of 250 nursing professionals from a school hospital participated in the study, 83% female, aged 23-64 years. The research was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee, being approved with CAAE Opinion: 73711417.4.0000.5346. Data collection was performed at the workplace. The instruments used were the Occupational Coping Scale and the Assessment Scale of people's engagement with their work, as well as a questionnaire developed by the researcher and validated by two independent researchers. It was an exploratory, qualitative-quantitative research. The data were analyzed in SPSS version 2.0. Descriptive statistics were used, with means and standard deviation and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The correlations were positive weak and significant for Coping Planning and Total Coping with Engagement Factor Stamina, Dedication, Concentration and Total Engagement. As for Coping Negative Emotions when correlating with Engagement, the correlations were weak and significant positive with Stamina, Dedication and Total Engagement. The results showed the existence of a relationship between the variables, it was detected a low Total Engagement Index in the work, emphasizing the importance of investing in the development of the aspects that compose it as a way of strengthening the strategies of Occupational Coping. The qualitative study showed that the participants present a high level of stress and are looking for ways to face and overcome stressful situations, especially the emotional, spiritual balance, peer help and skills, including that they sometimes get to the point of needing psychological help and physician. The results showed that there is a relationship between the aspects under study, because engaged people expand their Coping repertoire. It is concluded that further intervention studies on the subject are needed. The aspects that need to be developed are treatment and prevention actions, as well as capacity building and interpersonal development.

Participaram da pesquisa 250 profissionais da enfermagem de um hospital escola, sendo 83% do sexo feminino, com idades entre 23 e 64 anos. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa, com Parecer CAAE: 73711417.4.0000.5346. A coleta de dados foi efetuada no próprio local de trabalho. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Escala de Coping Ocupacional e a Escala de Avaliação do engajamento das pessoas com seu trabalho, além de um questionário desenvolvido pela pesquisadora e validado por dois pesquisadores independentes. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, de cunho quali-quantitativa. Os dados foram analisados no programa SPSS versão 2.0. Utilizou-se a estatística descritiva, com médias e desvio padrão e o coeficiente de correlação de Pearson (r). As correlações foram positivas fracas e significativas para Coping Planejamento e Coping Total com o Engajamento fator Vigor, Dedicação, Concentração e com Engajamento Total. Quanto a Coping Emoções Negativas ao correlacionar com Engajamento, as correlações foram positivas fracas e significativas com Vigor, Dedicação e com Engajamento Total. Os resultados demonstraram a existência de relação entre as variáveis, foi detectado baixo índice de Engajamento Total no trabalho, ressaltando a importância em investir no desenvolvimento dos aspectos que o compõem como forma de fortalecimento das estratégias de Coping Ocupacional. O estudo qualitativo demonstrou que os participantes apresentam elevado índice de estresse e buscam formas para enfrentar e superar situações estressoras, com destaque para o equilíbrio emocional, espiritual, auxílio de colegas e as capacitações, inclusive citaram que por vezes chegam ao ponto de necessitar auxílio psicológico e médico. Os resultados demonstraram que há relação entre os aspectos em estudo, pois pessoas engajadas ampliam seu repertório de Coping. Conclui-se que são necessários mais estudos de intervenção sobre a temática. Os aspectos que precisam ser desenvolvidos são ações de tratamento e prevenção, além de capacitações e o desenvolvimento interpessoal.porUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em PsicologiaUFSMBrasilPsicologiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPsicologia positivaHospital escolaTrabalhoEstresseEnfermagemPositive psychologySchool hospitalJobStressNursingCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIACoping e engajamento no trabalho da enfermagem hospitalar.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisVasconcellos, Silvio José Lemoshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1853136773126959Magnano, Tania Solange Bosi de SouzaXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBaptista, MakilimXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2039162454420677Baccin, Adaiane Amélia700700000001600c5babb05-f8c8-499e-8c28-c8b8dfa15fc138716ead-18e3-4241-8872-22c1ae47a453ecff6c08-1036-4dff-a5d0-3796d6c9aea6814887d7-c017-47d8-8277-6941573ddc0ereponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
