Resumo: The gamer population has grown significantly over the years. Between the games, League of Legends is one of the most popular, but there is still no literature compatible with their importance. Thus, the main objective of this research was to identify how personality factors and passion for playing impact the improvement or worsening of performance in League of Legends players in Brazil, as well as to explore the associations of these elements with toxicity. In this study, 335 players, over 18 years old, answered an online questionnaire containing questions about socio-demographic information and player profile, as well as the Reduced Personality Markers (MR-25) and Passion Scale for the activity. Correlational analysis, multinomial regression, and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the results. The results of the correlations indicated positive associations between passion criteria, harmonious passion, conscientiousness, and socialization with performance, and negative associations with neuroticism between seasons 8 and 10. The multiple linear regression analysis resulted in the construction of a model capable of explaining 22.6% of the variance in performance between seasons, and that consolidated socialization and neuroticism as important elements for performance, as well as passion for the game. The results were discussed in light of the characteristics of personality and passion factors associated with performance, also considering the associations found of these elements with toxicity. It was concluded that the path to the evolution in the ranking between seasons, from the variables associated in the analyses used, benefits mainly from a healthier relationship with the game, characterized by harmony between playing and other activities, altruistic, social, generous and empathetic ingame posture, a posture that promotes cohesion among a team formed by strangers and absence of toxic behavior or combat to the toxicity.
