Resumo: Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are a functional class of RNA involved in the regulation of several cellular processes which may modulate disease onset, progression, and prognosis. Lysosomal storage diseases (LSD) are a group of rare disorders caused by mutations of genes encoding specific hydrolases or non-enzymatic proteins, characterized by a wide spectrum of manifestations. The alteration of ncRNA levels is well established in several human diseases such as cancer and auto-immune disorders

The alteration of ncRNA levels is well established in several human diseases such as cancer and auto-immune disordershowever, there is a lack of information focused on the role of ncRNA in rare diseases. Recent reports related to changes in ncRNA expression and its consequences on LSD physiopathology show us the importance to keep advancing in this field. This article will summarize recent findings and provide key points for further studies on LSD and ncRNA association.Univ Fed Sao Paulo, Dept Psychobiol, Lab Erros Inatos Metab, Sao Paulo, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Dept Pediat, Sao Paulo, BrazilLaboratório de Erros Inatos do Metabolismo, Department of Psychobiology, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, São Paulo, BrazilDepartment of Pediatrics, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, São Paulo, BrazilWeb of ScienceFundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq)Instituto de Genetica e Erros Inatos do Metabolismo (IGEIM)Associação Fundo de Incentivo à Psicofarmacologia (AFIP)FAPESP: 2014/14230-0FAPESP: 2015/053818Frontiers Media Sa2020-07-31T12:47:48Z2020-07-31T12:47:48Z2016info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion-application/pdfhttp://dx.doi.org/10.3389/fendo.2016.00133Frontiers In Endocrinology.
