Resumo: This article aims to offer a possible reading of the novel Bar Don Juan (1972), pointing out how the diegesis chooses a punctual path to problematize how the thinking of the Brazilian left demonstrated a certain politics of faith (OAKESHOTT, 1996), the fragility of young people intoxicated by revolutionary spirit (MARIÁTEGUI, 1987), but little articulated to resist the strength of their persecutors. Thus, theoretical contributions arising from Callad's critical fortune (CHIAPPINI, 1982; ROCHA, 2012; CRUZ, 2014) gain relevance, in addition to the inevitable friction between the boundaries of history and fiction (MIGNOLO, 1993).
