“I WANT TO GO HOME”: A CRITICAL DISCURSIVE ANALYSIS OF NARRATIVES ABOUT LIFE IN RESIDENTIAL INSTITUTIONS

Resumo: In this article, we carry out a discursive analysis of the documentary “I want to go home”, in order to investigate how the young people who participate in this audiovisual production identify themselves and how they are identified in the different narratives and which lexicogrammatical resources carry out these identifications. To carry out the analysis, we were guided by studies on the Evaluation Theory (MARTIN; WHITE, 2000; MARTIN; ROSE, 2003; WHITE, 2004; MARTIN; WHITE, 2005). The main results reveal that young people identify and are identified through lexicogrammatical choices such as: lost, angry, sad, isolated, mistreated, among others, which denote evaluations of Affection and Judgment.

Para realizar a análise, pautamo-nos em estudos sobre o Sistema da Avaliatividade (MARTIN; WHITE, 2000; MARTIN; ROSE, 2003; WHITE, 2004; MARTIN; WHITE, 2005).
