Resumo: ABSTRACT. The study addresses the communicating space of riverside education located on the islands that make up the geographic limits of the city of Belém in Pará. The general objective is to analyze in the academic production of the postgraduate programs in education of two public higher education institutions, the communicating space of the riverside rural schools of the islands of Belém and their contribution to the training of teachers. The methodology starts from the qualitative approach, uses bibliographic and descriptive research in the selection of “space” as a study category. The final analysis is based on the triangulation of methods. As results, it is pointed out: the place of the riverside school is a trainer and diffuser of cultures; the space of school relations emanates from the communities; relationships between teachers, students and the community evidence beliefs, knowledge and diversities; permanent training of teachers linked to local experience; there is a need for public policies that protect the right to school in the countryside; and, the riverside space is seen as an environment of struggle for public education in Brazil. In conclusion, it is opportune to state that the communicating space of the riverside school in the Pará Amazon lacks public policies that protect the right of rural populations to live, develop and study in the place where they live.

Como resultados apontam-se: o lugar da escola ribeirinha é formador e difusor de culturas; o espaço das relações escolares emana das comunidades; relações entre professores alunos e comunidade evidenciam crenças, saberes e diversidades; a formação permanente dos professores atrelada à vivência local; há necessidade de políticas públicas que resguardem o direito à escola no espaço do campo; e, o espaço ribeirinho é visto como ambiente de luta por educação pública no Brasil. Na conclusão é oportuno afirmar que o espaço comunicante da escola ribeirinha na Amazônia paraense carece de políticas públicas que resguardem o direito das populações do campo de viver, desenvolver e estudar no local em que habitam.
