Resumo: ABSTRACT. This study has as a main focus to conceptualize and characterize the Countryside Education and its practices supported by the school library, paying attention to the specificities of the countryside identity and the cultural richness that it produces, and not just as a mere reproducer of the urban education. For that, the reflections presented in this article, that in itself is a part of a master's research in Science Education at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, come from a bibliographical revision that intends to lift the state of the art and understand relevant factors in the current scenario of the Countryside Education supported by the school library. The results of the analysis made, have shown that the union of knowledge of the countryside and the knowledge captured in the classroom and library is potent and enriching, making for a truly significant and collaborative learning experience.

El presente estudio tuvo como principal premisa conceptuar y caracterizar la Educación en el Campo y sus prácticas con apoyo en la biblioteca escolar, con especial atención a las especificidades de la identidad campesina y su riqueza cultural, y no solamente como reproductor de la educación urbana. Las reflexiones presentadas en este artículo, que integra una investigación realizada en el ámbito de la Maestría en Educación en Ciencias de la Universidad Federal de Río Grande del Sur, tienen origen en una revisión bibliográfica que busca identificar el estado del arte y comprender los factores relevantes en el ámbito actual de la Educación en el Campo con apoyo en la biblioteca escolar. Los resultados del análisis realizado evidenciaron que la unión de los conocimientos campesinos empíricos y de aquellos aprendidos en clase es potente y enriquecedora, lo que genera un aprendizaje realmente significativo y colaborativo. Para tanto, as reflexões apresentadas neste artigo, que é parte de uma pesquisa de Mestrado de Educação em Ciências da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, são oriundas de uma revisão bibliográfica que tem por finalidade levantar o estado da arte e compreender fatores relevantes no âmbito atual da Educação do Campo apoiada pela biblioteca escolar. Os resultados, da análise realizada, evidenciaram que a união dos saberes campesinos empíricos e dos conhecimentos captados em sala de aula e biblioteca é potente e enriquecedora, gerando uma aprendizagem realmente significativa e colaborativa.
