Resumo: Psychologists' mental health is a subject understudied by researchers; however, it is a major factor since academic formation to professional work maintenance and self-care. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the risk and protection factors in the daily routine of clinical work. This study is under qualitative, descriptive and observational methods. The sample consisted of 09 clinical psychologists from Rio Grande do Sul state who work in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre and the region of the valley of Sinos river-RS. Sampling was chosen by convenience following the snowball type. Data was collected from a semi-structured interview and a sociodemographic questionnaire. After data transcription, the content analysis was performed based on Bardin. It is expected that this study will help to disseminate ways of healthy confront for the professional category and provide new academic practices for future professionals.

Dessa forma, o objetivo desse estudo foi investigar os fatores de risco e proteção no cotidiano do trabalho clínico. Trata-se de um estudo de método qualitativo, descritivo e observacional. A amostra foi constituída por 09 psicólogos (as) clínicos do estado do Rio Grande do Sul que atuam na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre e região do Vale dos Sinos-RS. Optou-se por amostragem por conveniência do tipo bola de neve. Os dados foram coletados a partir de uma entrevista semi-estruturada e um questionário sociodemográfico. Após a transcrição dos dados a análise de conteúdo foi realizada baseando-se em Bardin.
