Resumo: | Abstract: Large-scale mining in Brazil is driven by an extractivist model of socio-environmental and structural risks. The Samarco/Vale/BHP Billiton disaster in Doce river basin, caused by rupture of Fundão dam in Mariana/MG, and the Vale disaster in Paraopeba river basin, caused by the rupture of Dam I in Brumadinho/MG, are undoubted examples of risks of predatory mineral model. The aim of this text is present the results of a geographic expedition realized in Paraopeba river basin ten days after the rupture of Vale's iron ore tailings dam in Brumadinho/MG. The expedition in Paraopeba river basin was carried out between 04 and 06 February 2019 and allowed direct contact with territories and individuals impacted by mud-tailings. Based on direct observations and interviews, our results stand out the cartography of disaster along the river valley, with effects on organization of life and work of farmers, fishermen and riverine people. We believe that reports of field experience here highlighted will contribute to a critical debate about the mining model in Brazil. Keywords: Brumadinho/MG. Paraopeba river basin. Mining. Disaster. |

Disaster.
