The transformation of agricultural production and migration in Mato Grosso: analysis of the Alto Teles Pires case

Resumo: From the 2000s, the agricultural production associated with trading companies expanded to specific areas of the Central-West region, creating agricultural hubs. In this process, specific regions within Mato Grosso state were privileged, and the State government had a main role in the concentration of production, such as in the Alto Teles Pires microregion. This paper aims to investigate the demographic aspect of the process of territorialization of agribusiness capital, focusing on urbanization and migratory dynamics. Data from the Demographic Census between 1980 and 2010 were used, as well as bibliographic research. As a result, we noticed that integrating various stages of the production chain in the same location had as one of its demographic faces the migration. The pig and poultry farming in agribusiness and the expressive production of commodities generated intense migratory flows, either associated with the factory's production line, either by general or specialized services.

The pig and poultry farming in agribusiness and the expressive production of commodities generated intense migratory flows, either associated with the factory's production line, either by general or specialized services.A partir dos anos 2000, a difusão do formato da produção agropecuária associada às empresas transnacionais se territorializou em áreas específicas do Centro-Oeste, constituindo manchas de concentração de produção agropecuária. Neste processo, regiões específicas dentro do Mato Grosso foram privilegiadas, sendo que a ação do Estado foi primordial no processo de concentração da produção, como a microrregião de Alto Teles Pires. Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar a face demográfica do processo de territorialização do capital do agronegócio, com foco na urbanização e na dinâmica migratória. Foram utilizados dados dos Censos Demográficos entre 1980 e 2010 além de levantamento bibliográfico. Como resultado, nota-se que a verticalização da produção no campo, ou seja, a estratégia de integrar as diversas etapas da cadeia produtiva em uma mesma localidade apresentou a migração como uma de suas faces demográficas.
