Gender and field school: the place of female teaching

Resumo: | This article aims to analyze the profile of teaching professionals who work in rural schools in a local context in the semi-arid region potiguar, Brazil. The place of the female gender in school is approached, in the sense of establishing a correlation with the struggle of women in the conquest of social space. It is a mixed study, combining bibliographic and documentary research, using quantitative and qualitative approaches, carried out in rural municipal elementary schools - initial grades, in a small municipality in the semi-arid region potiguar. The data collected revealed important and also worrying issues. An education marked by the presence of women 62% of the total, with multipurpose work, there was a picture of temporary teachers (32%), with low salaries and little appreciation of the professional who works in the rural school. Teaching work, of a temporary nature, represents an exploration of the female masked by underemployment. However, the presence of women in the rural school demonstrates the emancipation of women who assume the commitment to contribute to overcoming oppressive and discriminatory relations in society. |

Esse artigo tem como objetivo analisar o perfil das profissionais docentes que atuam na escola do campo em um contexto local da região semiárida potiguar. Aborda-se o lugar do gênero feminino na escola, no sentido de estabelecer uma correlação com a luta das mulheres na conquista de espaço social. Trata-se de um estudo misto, ao combinar as pesquisas bibliográfica e documental, se utilizando das abordagens quantitativa e qualitativa, realizada nas escolas do campo municipais de ensino fundamental – séries iniciais, de um município de pequeno porte da região semiárida potiguar. Os dados coletados revelaram questões importantes e também preocupantes. Uma educação marcada pela presença do feminino 62% do total, com atuação polivalente, observou-se quadro de professores provisórios (32%), com baixos salários e pouca valorização do profissional que atua na escola do campo. O trabalho docente, de caráter provisório, representa uma exploração do feminino mascarado por um subemprego.
