From the countryside to the university: analysis of the academic trajectories of young people from the rural environment in Viçosa-MG, Brazil

Resumo: This article has as objective to understand the transformations of the way of life of young people from rural areas through their academic trajectories. We worked with the Youth category, problematized through the notion of academic trajectories. From a methodological point of view a field research was developed through the qualitative approach was used, since it becomes more appropriate to the objectives of the study. As data collection instruments, semi-structured interviews were conducted with students and graduates who constitute a target audience of the work. Comparing the trajectories of the young people presented here, it is perceived that they have in common the fact that they are children of farmers and have surpassed their parents in terms of the degree of study. All of them come from public schools and encounter difficulties during their school trajectories and during the academic trajectory. They highlighted that one of the greatest difficulties in the university was in monitoring the contents and adapting the methodology of teachers having learning gaps in the contents due to a low-quality basic education. Based on the analysis of the data obtained in the interviews, it was concluded that the young people in the field who enter higher education are constantly changing the way they act and think, due to the varied experiences that take place in the academic space.

Para tal, trabalhou-se com a categoria Juventude, problematizada por meio da noção de trajetórias acadêmicas. Do ponto de vista metodológico, empregou-se, nesta investigação, uma pesquisa de campo desenvolvida por meio da abordagem qualitativa.  Como instrumentos de coleta de dados, foram feitas entrevistas semiestruturadas com os estudantes e egressos que se constituem público-alvo da pesquisa. Comparando as trajetórias dos jovens aqui apresentados percebe-se que eles têm em comum o fato de serem filhos de agricultores e terem superado os pais no que se refere ao grau de estudo. Todos são oriundos de escolas públicas e encontraram dificuldades no transcorrer de suas trajetórias escolares e durante o percurso acadêmico. Os resultados mostraram que uma das maiores dificuldades dos sujeitos da pesquisa durante as trajetórias na universidade foi acompanhar os conteúdos e se adaptarem às metodologias dos professores, tendo lacunas de aprendizagem dos conteúdos em decorrência de um ensino básico de pouca qualidade.
