Resumo: This article intends to investigate how the subject manifests himself in the face of traumatic situations when involved, directly or not, in an event. Trauma can be described as an abrupt break in the articulation between subject and world, which can cause distress. Initially, the trauma comes from an individual event, originated in childhood and can, throughout life, update itself in unexpected events, leading the subject to relive the original malaise. However, when we observe some collective events, such as the environmental tragedies of Mariana and Brumadinho, we realize that the traumatic manifestations can also be collective, pointing to the fragility of the body in the face of the impact of the tragedy. In such tragedies, it is important to highlight different sufferings: one more distant, from those who assist, and another closer, the direct victims of the tragedy. Faced with anguish, it remains for the subject, indirectly involved, to try to stop the consequences of this symptom with mechanisms that work as a kind of cesspool of language. Thus, we will approach the movement of exhaustively repeating what was said by the media and the act of saying nothing, which are ways for the subject to neutralize themselves from the distressing effects of trauma. The article also investigates the victim's guilt and the process of collective forgetfulness
