A multivariate analysis of the expression of the enlarged ante-present in Argentinean varieties

Resumo: In this paper, we describe the behavior of the pretérito perfecto tenses in the expression of the enlarged ante-present in Spanish spoken in Buenos Aires and San Miguel de Tucumán. Therefore, we compiled a corpus of radio interviews of both varieties. Using Goldvarb, we execute a multivariate analysis that allowed us to identify and describe an intense use of the perfecto simple in Buenos Aires and a more expressive use of the perfecto compuesto in San Miguel de Tucumán. This analysis also allowed us to identify extralinguistic factors operating behind the described context.
