Amílcar Cabral’s educational practice in the decolonization process: Freire's dialogues in Africa

This article aims at analyzing the content of audios recorded by Paulo Freire during interviews conducted by him in Guinea-Bissau, available at the home page of Acervo Educador Paulo Freire, about the African revolutionary and leader Amilcar Cabral. To this end, we used content analysis and qualitative, descriptive research, in line with Freire's primary works. In the first part, we tried to present who Amilcar Cabral was and his importance in the liberation of Africa, with a documental survey and a review of previous works. The second part showed how Freire arrived in Guinea-Bissau and his contribution to the literacy education process in the country. To conclude the data analysis, a comparison of Freire's works was made in accordance with the audios and the relevance of Amilcar Cabral in the Freirean conception.
