Educating for and in alterity: an approximation in thinking about education

Resumo: This article proposes a connection between Emmanuel Lévinas’ understanding of alterity and Paulo Freire’s ideas. It starts from a reflection resulting from the Paulo Freire discipline offered in a master’s degree in education The objective is to problematize the ideas of the authors Lévinas and Freire in the perception of alterity as a relevant point for education. Dialoguing about alterity based in the studies developed in a dialogue between the two thinkers reinforces the importance of talking about what alterity is, how it is seen and felt in the classroom, with special resonance to a humanizing education.
